Medical Assistant Opportunity At Mountain View Hospital

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team! This role involves assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. You will be responsible for appointment scheduling, care, and chart management. You will provide information to patients to ensure they fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. You will convey a positive image of the clinic, collect and process routine testing, and return results to the doctor. You will obtain and process doctor's orders and data entry. You will provide good customer service on the phone, to patients, doctors, and other medical staff. You will work well under pressure and perform CLIA waived moderate testing.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physician with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
• Proficiency in collecting correct blood samples and other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples.
• Following hospital policies and procedures for transporting and delivering samples to laboratory. Knowledge of handling laboratory supplies and stocks supplies.
• Ensuring that patients receive appropriate competent, and quality clinical care and that customer service meets patient's expectation.
• Adherence by staff to all policy and procedures. Providing age-appropriate care. Reporting, monitoring, and management of patient and staff incidents. Monitoring and management of patient and physician satisfaction results.
• Following standards precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Knowledge and performance of sterile tech.
• Proficient in clerical responsibilities including sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
• Performing facility responsibilities as assigned which may include setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol; cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
• May perform special tests such as clotting times, bleeding times, and glucose tolerance tests and report results to other lab personnel.
• Maintaining Point of Care documents and performing Quality Control management.
• Showing good customer service on phone and in person to anyone that enters the facility.
• Performing miscellaneous tasks that promote smooth operations or other duties as deemed necessary.
• Completing CCM Roster on a monthly basis. Staying current on CCM changes and requirements from CMS.
• Acting as a liaison between our provider and the patient when coordinating community resources, access to specialty services, follow-up healthcare, etc.
• Following-up and helping complete identified referrals. Coordinating with specialists and helping to integrate recommendations from our provider. Identifying barriers for lack of follow through or potential barriers to community resources.

Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent GED. Current BLS Certification. Valid driver's license.

Experience: CMA course preferred but not required. Phlebotomy course and phlebotomy experience.

Equipment/Technology: Experience with computers and office equipment, required.

Language/Communication: The ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Bilingual is a plus. Must understand medical terminology.

Mathematical Skills: General Math skills.
