The Senior Tax Accountant will support the Director of Tax in all tax functions (excluding property and payroll taxes) for Bell Partners and its related investment vehicles. The Senior Tax Accountant will assist with the preparation or review of tax compliance work, management of external staff (including coordination with internal business partners), and with technical tax research activities.This is a hybrid role: 4 days in the office (Raleigh, Charlotte, or Greensboro)Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReview federal/state/local income, franchise, and sales and use tax returns prepared by third-party tax advisorsExecution of tax return and K-1 delivery process to ensure timely completion of deliverables, including providing information to third-party tax advisorsComplete or coordinate submission of tax filings and payments to government agenciesComplete certain aspects of investor reportingPrepare internal tax estimates or review estimates prepared by third partiesReview quarterly and annual REIT tests and assist with REIT qualification processRemain current with federal and state tax law changesResearch tax issues using external materials, and prepare written summary of findings and recommendationProvide support for tax audits and controversies, including the preparation of notice responsesAssist accounting department with appropriate tax accrual entries and other critical US GAAP analysesManage LLC annual report renewals in all jurisdictions required by leveraging outsourced providerReview unclaimed property filings prepared by outsourced providerAdditional Functions and ResponsibilitiesAdditional duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks to ensure work is completed on timeGreat attention to detail, ability to solve practical problems quickly, and ability to work well under pressure with minimal guidance and supervisionDirect experience and knowledge of partnership taxation requiredExperience working with REITs and multi-state real estate investment portfolios preferredGood verbal and written communication skillsProfessional, punctual, responsible, and a self-starterAbility to work successfully on a teamWillingness to provide exceptional customer serviceAbility to demonstrate the Bell Core ValuesMust be able to maintain confidentialityMust be proficient with Adobe, Excel, Word, and OutlookEducation and Background:4-year degree in Accounting or Master of AccountingCPA certification preferred2+ years of relevant tax experience at a public accounting firm
