Job Description:Industrial Engineering Manager | MMX Engineering OperationsJob SummaryDesigns, analyzes, develops, and implements innovative and strategic solutions that improve work method efficiency and workforce management across TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores. Drives operational improvements through store layout optimization, technology enhancements, material handling recommendations, work methods and motion economy improvements, labor standards development, and staffing and scheduling analysis. Evaluates, recommends, and prioritizes process improvements that optimize store operations, productivity, and workforce effectiveness, with a focus on Engineering Operations.Major Areas of ResponsibilityStore Operations & Engineering SolutionsDesign, analyze, develop, and implement solutions that improve operations in both selling and non-selling areas of the store, including:Backroom operationsFront-end operationsDressing roomsRestroomsAssociate loungesCustodial areasOffice and support spacesLead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and execution.Evaluate and recommend safety improvements and material handling solutions.Develop and implement best methods and motion economy principles to improve productivity and reduce non-value-added activities.Develop, maintain, and apply engineering labor standards that support efficient staffing, scheduling, and workforce management.Support and lead special projects that drive operational excellence and business performance.Engineering OperationsAnalyze, prioritize, and sequence engineering initiatives to maximize business impact and resource utilization.Assist with Corporate productivity initiatives and ad hoc projectsCoordinate Marmaxx capital planning, budgeting, and trackingStrategic Planning & InnovationBalance standardization and innovation to drive continuous improvement across MMX store engineering priorities.Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and retail best practices, translating insights into actionable business strategies.Continually assess the competitive landscape and leverage external resources, partnerships, and networks to identify opportunities for long-term growth and operational improvement.Develop solutions that consider impacts across functions and align with broader organizational objectives.Collaboration & Problem SolvingCollaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to gather input, challenge assumptions, and develop practical, scalable solutions.Identify root causes within complex operational challenges and develop data-driven recommendations.Assess both immediate and long-term implications when making decisions that impact store operations and workforce effectiveness.Continuously develop, evaluate, and recommend engineering and business solutions that:Minimize cycle timeEliminate redundant activitiesImprove labor productivityOptimize workflow efficiencyDetermine the most effective location and timing for floor-ready activitiesWho We Are Looking ForBachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering3+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business Operations, Retail Operations, or a related discipline.Prior experience leading teams in a dynamic, fast paced environment.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple levels of the organization.Sound understanding of business and operational processes and procedures.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.Retail store or distribution center experience.Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement certification.Experience with labor standards, process improvement, workforce management, operational analytics, or productivity measurement.Ability to travel up to 40%.Benefits include Associate discount; 401(k) match; medical/dental/vision; HSA; health care FSA; life insurance; short/long-term disability; paid holidays/vacation /sick/bereavement/parental leave; EAP; incentive programs for management; auto/home insurance discounts; tuition reimbursement; scholarship program; adoption/surrogacy assistance; smoking cessation; child care/cell phone discounts; pet/legal insurance; credit union; referral bonuses.
