Production Supervisor - 1st Shift

Job Title Production Supervisor – 1st Shift Position Overview The Production Supervisor – 1st Shift plays a key role in ensuring the efficient manufacturing of slides and specialty glass products. This hands‑on leadership position oversees daily production operations, driving quality, efficiency, and team performance. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams, optimize workflows, and support a culture of continuous improvement. What you will be doing Maintain a safe work environment and promote safety awareness. Maintain excellent housekeeping practices through 6S implementation with appropriate audits. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN tools focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity. Lead cell leaders and team members of the designated Product Value Stream. Build rapport with personnel across a variety of departments and with external customers. Listen, support, engage, and encourage employee suggestions and input to achieve excellent results. Mentor direct reports to improve their leadership skill sets and overall effectiveness. Assist and support other team members as required. Provide training and guidance for employees to improve their abilities and skill levels. Document standard work/SOPs and provide continuous feedback to ensure adherence to procedures and continuous improvement. Provide guidance, direction, and leadership to ensure products are manufactured with the highest quality in a safe and timely manner, meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Maintain staffing levels, schedule, and organize work assignments within company policies and procedures. Maintain associates files for attendance, productivity, and quality, and provide regular reviews and counseling where required. Achieve near‑term and long‑term goals and find ways to accomplish tasks others think are impossible. Lead day‑to‑day activities to ensure swift and accurate completion of customer orders. Ensure manufacturing orders are followed to completion with accuracy and variance review per engineering specifications. Develop, generate, review, and present various work/management reports to measure department production and recommend improvements. Maintain positive employee relations through proficient and open communication skills. Coach and manage employee relation concerns and semi‑annual performance processes. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma required. 5+ years of manufacturing/production supervision experience. Knowledge, training or experience in Lean manufacturing. Very knowledgeable regarding material planning processes and information flows in the designated value stream. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques. Experience in data collection, measuring, analysis, improvement and control. Ability to conduct critical analysis and develop strategic action plans for efficient, lean, effective processes. ISO 9000, ISO 13485, FDA experience preferred. Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, database and internet‑based programs; SAP, Veeva. Standing for extended periods, bending and twisting. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Compensation Hiring range: $70,000 – $85,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will depend on the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws.
