Director of Family Engagement, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
Crossover for Work
$200,000/yr – full-time, 40 hours per week. Benefits include health, vision, dental, 401k, PTO, and more. Locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla (San Diego), Los Angeles (South Bay), CA. Alpha is building a fundamentally different school where students complete core academics in two hours daily through AI‑powered platforms and then devote the remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and real‑world execution. Families are highly educated, well‑counseled, and demand clear, thoughtful conversation. The role’s core focus is to earn and maintain their unconditional trust over the years. What You Will Be Doing Steward the complete relationship with every family on campus, cultivating trust that deepens with time. Identify concerns proactively and address them with discretion, urgency, and considered judgment. Maintain strong visibility during critical moments: morning drop‑off, afternoon pick‑up, and intentional parent gatherings. Facilitate ongoing, substantive conversations about Alpha’s AI‑driven model with highly analytical, technology‑oriented families. Architect and iterate on community experiences that foster belonging, advocacy, and referral activity. What You Won’t Be Doing Managing admissions funnels or enrollment targets – your work begins after families join. Operating from behind a desk or relying on email alone – this demands a high‑presence approach. Following scripts or deflecting difficult questions about AI or education. Relying on rigid processes – you will establish systems where they are absent. Treating families as accounts – this role values judgment over task execution. Director Of Family Engagement Key Responsibilities Establish and maintain deep trust with ultra‑high‑net‑worth families, ensuring sustained retention, advocacy, and confidence in Alpha’s AI‑powered education model. Basic Requirements Based in or able to commute daily to Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla, or Los Angeles. 5+ years working directly with UHNW individuals or families in private schools, private equity, family offices, or elite client‑service environments. Proven ability to navigate complex, high‑stakes relationships with discretion and sound judgment. Active, daily user of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the ability to clearly explain AI capabilities, risks, and limitations. Strong presence and communication style that earns credibility with highly educated, high‑expectation families. Familiarity with private or independent school ecosystems, either professionally or personally. Availability for early mornings, late afternoons, and select evening or weekend events. Nice‑to‑have Requirements Existing relationships within local private school or UHNW communities. Experience working with founders, investors, or tech executives. Track record of building communities or experiences that drive organic referrals. Experience in early‑stage or high‑growth environments where ambiguity is high. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, confident conversations.
