Medical Assistant

Houston Cancer Institute, PA is hiring! We have an immediate opening for a full-time Medical Assistant. Compensation: $18/hr Are you looking to work in a leading medical practice in Houston? If so, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual with prior experience as a Medical Assistant who is interested to grow with our practice. A successful candidate should have excellent verbal and communication skills as well as a courteous and professional demeanor. Prior experience working in an outpatient medical office is a plus, however we can train a highly motivated candidate. We're looking for a team player who can work with other members of the clinical team to ensure an excellent experience for the patients. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required. This position will compromise of traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities, but will also require Medical Reception duties as well, including checking in patients, coordinating communication and follow ups, etc. Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree (not required, but preferred) 2. Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Google Docs 3. Authorized to work in the USA Medical Assistant Duties: 1. Prepare charts prior to patient visits to the outpatient clinic they are assigned to. 2. Be familiar with Medical Terminology. 3. Take family and social history and transcribe it to the Electronic Medical Record. Enter consultation notes into EMR after patient visit. Will train on Practice Electronic Medical Record. 4. Take patient vitals (Pulse, BP, Weight, Height, Temperature, Oxygen saturation) and transcribing it to the Electronic Medical Record 5. Give simple subcutaneous injections as directed and document in electronic medical record as directed. 6. After patient has completed office visit, schedule outpatient testing for patients at Houston Cancer Institute, PA or external facilities including other outpatient diagnostics facility, hospitals, or laboratory. 7. Schedule follow up outpatient visits on practice electronic medical record. 8. Call patients to confirm testing, appointments or other procedure. 9. Cross cover as needed at front desk. Practice will train you. 10. Prepare lists of patients due to be seen and review cases with the MD, Nurse, or NP prior to patient office visits to ensure all items are completed. 11. Additional duties may be added from time to time as needed for optimal patient care. Benefits include Medical and Dental Insurance.
