Maintenance/Repair Technician IIThis position is within Illinois Tool Works Zip-Pak division. Zip-Pak is the global leader in resealable solutions for the flexible packaging industry. Our expertise in zipper, application technology, and packaging systems makes Zip-Pak the primary choice of brand owners, OEMs, and converters for innovative resealable solutions. Zip-Pak's lean, modern, and continuous manufacturing environments produce zippers using high-volume plastic extrusion. Manufacturing sites are in the United States, Europe, and South America.The Maintenance/Repair Technician II performs work involving two or more maintenance skills to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve welding, machine and equipment repairing, and electrical work. At all times observes and follow safety, HACCP/Relevant Food Safety guidelines and policies.Responsibilities:Conduct routine preventive maintenance and inspection of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdownsTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues with extrusion machineryAbility to read electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematicsPerform repairs and replacement of faulty components to keep machine operating efficientlyAssist in the installation and commissioning of new equipmentMust be able to document work requests, work orders, and machinery failures for machines and equipment using computer maintenance management system (CMMS)Possess the knowledge and understanding of industrial electrical wiring and 3 phase/ 480 VoltsPossess the knowledge and understanding of process controlsKnowledgeable of A/C and D/C motors and controlsUnderstands PLC process controlsMaintains chiller systemMaintains plant air supply systemAbility to fabricate needed parts or make machine modificationsArc and/or Mig welding experienceMaintains resin delivery systemRecord and maintain spare part usageKnowledgeable in operating machine shop equipment: Milling machine, lathes, welding, surface grinders, drill press and band saw.Position Requirements:High School Diploma or GED required. The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this pay range is for a successful candidate in the Chicagoland area.
