Job Summary:

Dant Clayton is seeking a skilled and motivated Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to support the reliability, performance, and safety of our manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated production equipment, electrical systems, controls, and facility infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a critical role in preventive and predictive maintenance efforts while ensuring equipment uptime, workplace safety, and operational efficiency.

This role requires a hands-on technician who can work independently, collaborate with production teams, and respond with urgency to maintenance needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and corrective repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
• Support production teams by responding to equipment failures with a strong customer-service mindset.
• Assist with facility and utility maintenance as required.

Automation & Controls

• Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled equipment, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and similar platforms.
• Configure, repair, and support Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation including pressure transmitters, flow meters, level sensors, RTDs, thermocouples, and related devices.
• Maintain and optimize automated equipment and control systems to improve reliability and throughput.

Electrical Systems

• Diagnose and repair industrial electrical systems up to 480V AC.
• Maintain three-phase motors, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, switchgear, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Install conduit, wiring, and industrial electrical components in accordance with NEC standards and engineering specifications.
• Inspect and maintain backup power systems, generators, and UPS equipment.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance activities and equipment inspections.
• Participate in predictive maintenance programs, including thermal imaging, vibration analysis, and condition monitoring.
• Support planned shutdown maintenance and equipment overhauls.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and asset history within the CMMS system.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and company safety policies.
• Comply with OSHA regulations and NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
• Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), safety audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment at all times.

Leadership & Team Support

• Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance team members.
• Coordinate and oversee outside contractors when performing work on-site.
• Work collaboratively with production and operations personnel to resolve equipment issues.
• Support maintenance projects and continuous improvement efforts across the facility.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience working with PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and automated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Brightly CMMS).
• Must have valid state issued driver’s license and able to drive a forklift and company truck, as needed

• English literacy

Work Schedule

• Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
• Occasional weekends, overtime, and non-routine scheduling may be required to support production and maintenance projects.
• Must be available for emergency equipment troubleshooting and plant support when necessary.
  
  

Preferred

• Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar automation platforms.
• Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques.
• Experience using CMMS software and computerized work order systems.
• Manufacturing experience in a highly automated production environment.

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in industrial manufacturing environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms when necessary.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and production environments.
