Job Overview:

Requirement/Must Have:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of computers.
- Data entry background with the ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
- Ability to learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests.
- Ability to learn and understand compliance regulations related to test ordering.
- Availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
- Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department including A-station, presort, and imaging/microfilming.
- Handle pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory.
- Perform centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens.
- Ensure all functions are performed with confidence, accuracy, and in a timely manner.
- Work in a biohazard environment while practicing good safety habits.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures.
- Maintain a neat and clean work area.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
- Preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.
- Previous laboratory experience preferred.
- Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
- Previous hospital laboratory experience is a plus.
- Previous experience in a production environment preferred.
