CNC Application Engineer

Job DescriptionWho You AreThe Application Engineer will provide engineering expertise and guidance of all aspects of the application of FFA CNC system products to support OEM and end users in the purchase and integration of FANUC systems. Work with customers from initial project development through follow-up support. Grow sales and market share of FFA products at assigned accounts.This is remote position, reporting to our Hoffman Estates, IL office. The Application Engineer will support customers throughout Western New York and Ontario, including key areas such as Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, and the Greater Toronto/Hamilton region. The ideal candidate will reside within a commutable distance of these territories or be willing to relocate to a centrally located area.How It's DoneServe as technical lead at assigned OEM/MTB/Retrofitter accounts by:Suggesting CNC products to meet customer specificationsSupporting commissioning of CNC products for customer’s applicationProvide application and marketing support at end-user accounts by:Providing application support on existing CNC productsPromoting FFA CNC products for key retrofit/new machine projectsProvide technical application assistance and support to Sales Engineers and prospective customers by:Assisting with pre-installation technical discussion and recommendations - identify technical needs of customersMay involve accompanying sales engineer on prospective site meetingsConfigure complete systems determining best technical solution for controls, servos and features. Develop BOM (bill of materials)Provide new ideas and strategies for the application of CNC products in and outside of the machine tool industryAssist the marketing & business development team to promote FFA products by:Create technical presentations and white papers.Attend trade shows and give technical presentationsSupport the Engineering Team and overall business goals by:Provide required reports that highlight major customer activities together with brief hourly breakdownKeep manager aware of any difficult customer issuesUpdate and maintain Application Engineering calendar with their whereabouts when not working from the officeWhat You NeedAssociates degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience within manufacturing, automation, or machine tool industry settingKnowledge of FANUC CNC products, including CNC controls, servos, spindles, and software tools such as FAPT Ladder, FANUC Picture, Manual Guide i, Macro‑Executor, FOCAS development, and related applicationsExtensive knowledge of engineering principles, application development, and manufacturing processes, with emphasis on CNC, PLC, and servo systemsStrong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and the capacity to quickly learn proprietary software toolsAbility to effectively present ideas and solutions to audiences ranging from machine tool operators to upper‑level managementAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and customers, ensuring timely follow‑through and closureStrong commercial mindset with technical sales skills; excellent written and verbal communication and presentation abilities; and a proven team playerRequires a valid driver’s license and passport, along with the ability to travel approximately 50%—by both land and air—to customer sites throughout the U.S. and CanadaWhat Would Be Even BetterBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related field or equivalent relevant experienceMore than three (3) with demonstrated depth in manufacturing, automation, or machine tool environments and increasing technical ownership or complexity of workIt's Your MoveAt FANUC America, we are driven by a deep respect for our people and a commitment to building a workplace dedicated to integrity and excellence. The pay range for this position is $81,120 - $130,874 per year. The pay range listed is based on both salary and other compensation, including bonuses and profit sharing, that an employee may be paid during their employment with FANUC America. Benefits include medical insurance, 401k savings, paid vacation, vision insurance, dental insurance, tuition reimbursements, disability insurance, life insurance, and paid holidays.
