About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor & Delivery License: Active RN License Required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Must have 2 years of experience or more in Labor & Delivery. - Must have experience with high-risk deliveries. - Familiarity with pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, etc. - C-section experience required, including circulating and scrubbing. - Travel experience is preferred. - Must not have acrylic or overlay nails during the assignment. Description: Unit consists of Labor & Delivery and Postpartum. There are 12 L&D beds, 10 triage beds, and 12 antepartum beds. Monthly births average around 200. AWHONN guidelines are followed for nursing ratios. Fetal Link is utilized for fetal heart monitoring. Cerner is the electronic medical record system used. Charge nurses take patient assignments if needed. There are 2 scheduled OB techs per shift to assist in deliveries. Weekends are required every other week with no call requirement. One major and two minor holidays are required. Scrubs are provided but must be sterile. There are no ventilators on the unit. OB and Neonatologist are available 24/7. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 from NICU. Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours from 7 AM to 7 PM. L&D may float to antepartum and postpartum units. Common diagnoses include high-risk patients such as those with blood pressure issues, multiples, diabetes, substance abuse, and no prenatal care. This facility is known as the 13th largest center for births in California.
