Position Overview

The Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) supports pharmacists in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient medication dispensing and patient care services. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and adherence to regulatory, legal, and organizational standards. The CPhT works collaboratively with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and patients to ensure optimal medication management.

Key Responsibilities

• Medication Preparation & Dispensing — Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Prescription Processing — Enter, verify, and update prescription information with accuracy and efficiency.
• Inventory Management — Maintain stock levels, rotate inventory, check for expired medications, and process orders with wholesalers.
• Customer & Patient Support — Provide courteous service, answer non‐clinical questions, and triage clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Insurance & Billing — Process insurance claims, resolve rejections, and ensure accurate billing.
• Regulatory Compliance — Follow HIPAA, OSHA, DEA, and state board of pharmacy guidelines.
• Compounding (if applicable) — Prepare sterile or non‐sterile compounds following USP standards.
• Technology & Systems — Operate pharmacy software, automated dispensing systems, and electronic health records.
• Quality Assurance — Participate in audits, accuracy checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT) .
• Active state pharmacy technician license/registration (as required by state law).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong math, data entry, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‐paced, accuracy‐driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience in retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy is preferred.
• Experience with pharmacy management systems (e.g., PioneerRx, Epic Willow, QS/1, ScriptPro).
• Knowledge of medical terminology, SIG codes, and insurance processes.
• Sterile or non‐sterile compounding experience.

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Full‐time or part‐time; may include evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on pharmacy hours.
• Pharmacy Hours:

Monday – Friday

8:00AM – 5:00PM

Saturday

9:00AM – 1:00PM [If Necessary]
