Nurse (Clinical/Transplant Coordination)

About the Position This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, within the Department of Surgery—Organ Transplant. Typical hours are 0700‑1530. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation using the DHA for certain personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Basic Requirements for Nurse (Clinical/Transplant Coordination) Degree : A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. Accreditation must be from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: Attach a copy of your transcripts.) Licensure : A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory; must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. Foreign Degree : A degree from a foreign nursing school. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS Certificate) is required. Exemption : Federal employees in the 0610 occupational series with continuous employment since September27,2017, are exempt from the basic requirements above. Exempt applicants must provide documentation to validate their status. Additional basic requirements for exempt applicants include: a degree or diploma from a professionally accredited nursing program and an active, current registration as a professional nurse in a recognized jurisdiction. Professional Nursing Experience One or more full years of professional nursing experience, including conducting comprehensive evaluations of pre‑ and post‑organ transplant patients; providing education and instruction to organ transplant patients and families; coordinating patient care with various health care professionals and clinics to facilitate patient management.
