Programs Underwriter

Commercial Underwriting Role

To evaluate and underwrite commercial programs, written on a surplus-lines basis via MGA partnerships on behalf of Canopius US Insurance (CUSI), in accordance with the approved business plan and defined personal authority limits.

Responsibilities

• Review individual submissions to MGA's for policies that fall outside of their assigned authority levels.
• Comply with company policies and risk appetite.
• Adhere to underwriting guidelines and contract terms such as risk limits, rates, and aggregate limits.
• Conduct monthly and annual audits.
• Further develop company relationships with assigned MGAs.

Skills and Experience

• 3-7 years of commercial underwriting experience.
• General knowledge in commercial property/liability/auto/IM/MTC/excess/package underwriting in one or more of the following classes: mercantile, hospitality, habitational, transportation, manufacturing, wholesale and cannabis; preferably a generalist.
• Individual desk underwriting / quoting experience.
• Interpret written guidelines for underwriting rules and apply to real life scenarios
• Communication skills.
• Ability to work and learn with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
• Have accountability for assigned tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Decision maker.
• Ability to adapt and change.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
