Our ED fellowships, available only to recent nursing graduates, give you the opportunity to experience this fast-paced environment and determine if it's right for you.The Adult ED Fellowship at Unity Hospital features:A cohort-based orientationEmergency Department training, along with additional opportunities to develop your nursing skillset through time spent medical & surgical unitsFrequent education sessions with Adult ED Fellowship leadersResponsibilities:Patient Care & Service: Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team membersPlanning & Communication: Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient's unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progressElectronic Health Record (EHR) Management: Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communicationCompliance: Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirementsRequired Qualifications:Diploma or Associate's Degree in NursingRegistered Nurse license in New York StateBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferredEducation:AS: Nursing (Required)Licenses / Certifications:BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of ProfessionsPhysical Requirements:Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation.
