Overview Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU), a 41-bed unit specializing in the care of adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries requiring surgical intervention. This fast-paced unit provides comprehensive care to patients with a variety of diagnoses, including those related to gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, and falls. The unit is equipped with telemetry monitoring, and the nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4, flexing to 1:5 as needed. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for providing compassionate care to patients in a challenging and rewarding environment. Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring vital signs. Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias. Respond to Rapid Response and Code events. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures. Provide education and support to patients and their families. Required Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in PCU or similar setting. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. Experience with Epic EHR system. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of experience as a travel nurse. Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center.
