Key facts Location: Warsaw, Poland Engagement: Contract What you'll do Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database management systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary optimizations to enhance efficiency. Develop and enforce database security policies, ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with software developers and data analysts to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements. Conduct regular backups and recovery procedures to safeguard data and minimize downtime in case of failures. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools to improve system performance and capabilities. Participate in capacity planning and forecasting to ensure that database resources align with business growth and demands. Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders regarding database-related issues and best practices. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in database technologies to continuously improve our database management practices. Assist in the migration of databases to cloud-based solutions, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption to services. Implement monitoring tools and scripts to automate routine tasks and enhance the overall efficiency of database operations. Requirements A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on relational database management systems (RDBMS). Proficiency in SQL and experience with database platforms such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle. Solid understanding of database design principles, normalization, and indexing strategies. Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting database issues. Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies, as well as disaster recovery planning. Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Nice to have Experience with cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL. Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes. Experience with database automation tools and scripting languages such as Python or Bash. Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
