Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:

The registered nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care on the Geropsychiatric Unit, focusing on mental health treatment and patient safety. This role involves assessing patient conditions, administering medications, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct mental and physical assessments to evaluate patient needs and progress.
• Administer medications and treatments following physician orders to ensure therapeutic effectiveness.
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, medications administered, and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner.
• Lead therapeutic activities such as group sessions, 1:1 interactions, and patient education to promote recovery.
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and outside agencies to coordinate comprehensive patient care and discharge planning.
• Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans accordingly to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid State of New Hampshire RN license.
• Hold a 2-year Associates degree or diploma from a recognized nursing program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certification in BLS is required.
• Demonstrate a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
• Possess strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in medical terminology and documentation processes.
