Director - Digital Trading

Job DescriptionWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The Director – Digital Trading provides strategic leadership and oversight of digital product initiatives within RBC US Wealth Management. They manage a team of Product Owners, align product strategy with core brokerage and trading objectives, and drive innovation across the digital client experience for our portfolio management and trading tools. This role focuses on trading systems including advisor order entry, order processing and execution systems. You’ll work with vendors and internal development partners to ensure the best overall experience for our clients and advisors.WHAT WILL YOU DO? Strategic LeadershipDefine digital product strategy for trading platforms, portfolio analytics, risk management, and execution systemsEstablish roadmaps aligned with business goals and client needsIdentify opportunities in algorithmic trading, analytics, and workflow automationEnsure regulatory compliance across all initiativesTeam LeadershipHire, mentor, and develop Product OwnersCoach on product strategy, regulatory requirements, and capital markets best practicesSet performance expectations and foster cross-functional collaborationPortfolio & Financial ManagementOversee product performance and ROI across the trading and portfolio management portfolioManage budget allocation and prioritize investmentsMonitor trading volumes, execution quality, and client retention metricsStakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional LeadershipManage relationships with traders, portfolio managers, clients, compliance, and risk teamsRepresent the product function in regulatory discussionsAct as "the glue" between vertical silos within project teams – including operations, risk/compliance and other technology delivery teamsPartner across business, tech, design, research, communications, training, compliance, legal, and risk functionsEnable partners by equipping communications/training teams with data, digital messaging, and timely updatesProvide regular visibility and updates to senior leadership on project status and releasesProduct Development & User EngagementLead user engagement through pilot management, research, and feedback collectionAlign product teams with user experience and increase speed to delivery through agile ways of workingConduct user research, design solutions, and iterate through agile cycles (Research Design Build Pilot)Own end-to-end requirementsMove from fragmented digital environments to deliver cohesive user experiences across advisor-facing, branch-facing, and client-facing platformsWHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?Must have: 12+ years of product management experience in financial services in money movement5+ years leading product management teamsProven track record of scaling digital products in highly regulated banking environmentsStrong understanding of banking industry, deposit products, credit products, and lending operationsExperience navigating regulatory compliance, risk management, and consumer protection in financial servicesExcellent strategic thinking and executive communication abilitiesDeep knowledge of agile and digital product development methodologiesWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
