Receiving Specialist

The Receiving Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient intake of all incoming materials, components, and equipment at the facility. This role ensures that all received goods meet quality, documentation, and traceability standards while maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal quality requirements. The position works closely with logistics, quality assurance, inventory control, procurement, and production teams to support smooth and timely manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Unload, inspect, and verify all incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and airway bills for accuracy and completeness.
• Accurately log all received goods into the ERP/MRP system (such as Infor, SAP, or similar platforms) in a timely and consistent manner.
• Maintain complete and accurate receiving records in accordance with AS9100, FAA, and internal quality management system (QMS) requirements.
• Process returned materials and coordinate with suppliers on discrepancy reports and corrective actions to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
• Prepare and maintain daily receiving logs, discrepancy reports, and receiving inspection records to ensure full traceability of materials.
• Stage and route received materials to designated storage locations, production floors, or inspection hold areas in an organized and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with Inventory Control and Procurement to reconcile shipping discrepancies and update inventory records as needed.
• Support cycle counts and physical inventory audits as directed to help maintain accurate stock levels.
• Communicate daily with logistics leadership regarding incoming shipment status, expedite requests, and backorder conditions.
• Use RF scanners and other warehouse tools to support accurate stocking, picking, and inventory control activities.
• Perform data entry related to shipping, receiving, labeling, and warehouse inventory transactions in the ERP system.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in receiving, warehouse, or material handling roles, preferably in an aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, including experience with platforms such as Infor, SAP, or similar.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing lists, and related shipping and receiving documentation.
• Experience with inventory control, stocking, and warehouse management processes.
• Strong data entry skills with attention to accuracy and timeliness.
• Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving operations, including inspection and verification of incoming goods.
• Ability to use RF scanners and other warehouse technology for picking, labeling, and inventory tracking.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with logistics, quality assurance, production, inventory control, and procurement teams.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and support compliance with AS9100, FAA, and QMS requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in an aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with AS9100, FAA, and quality management system (QMS) documentation and recordkeeping requirements.
• Background in warehouse inventory management, including cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and time-sensitive shipments.
• Ability to identify and document discrepancies and support corrective actions with suppliers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving shipping and receiving issues.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and manufacturing support environment with a focus on shipping, receiving, and inventory control. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch break. You will work with ERP/MRP systems (such as Infor, SAP, or similar), RF scanners, and other warehouse tools to manage inventory, labeling, and data entry. The position involves regular interaction with logistics, production, quality assurance, inventory control, and procurement teams in a collaborative setting focused on supporting manufacturing operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winchester, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
