Registered Nurse In The Step Down Specialty

The position requires a Registered Nurse in the Step Down specialty. Experience with cardiac telemetry and progressive care is required. The role includes managing and administering care for patients with various diagnoses such as COPD, congestive heart failure, stroke, renal failure, and myocardial infarction. Key skills include accessing and managing ports, administering blood products, and monitoring telemetry. Telemetry monitoring may be conducted both on the unit and remotely. Incumbent must be adept in interpreting dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases. Proficiency in managing patients post-cardiac procedures and those requiring advanced respiratory support is necessary. The nurse will work in a collaborative environment with interdisciplinary support teams. The unit maintains a patient ratio of 5 patients per nurse during night shifts. Professional development and adherence to safety protocols are critical components of this role. Candidates must have experience with electronic charting systems, specifically Epic. Candidates will float as needed within the specialty cluster and must remain flexible in meeting unit demands. Candidates must adhere to infection control practices and isolation precautions. This role demands strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
