Fiscal Assistant

Position San Bernardino County is recruiting Fiscal Assistants to support existing accounting processes. Ideal candidates will have strong mathematics and fiscal skills and experience with payroll, accounts payable, travel claims, tax matters, billings and payments, reimbursements, accounts receivable, public assistance grants and trust accounts. Responsibilities Verify, audit, classify, process, track, post and reconcile payroll, accounts payable, travel claims, tax matters, billings and payments, reimbursements, accounts receivable, public assistance grants and trust accounts. Salary Hourly wage ranges from $19.90 to $28.90, depending on experience. For San Bernardino County Fire Protection District: $19.90 - $28.90 (range 15). For Special Districts: $19.90 - $28.90 (range 15). Conditions of Employment Successful completion of background investigation, fingerprinting, credit check, and medical exam. Positions in Probation and Sheriff's Departments require polygraph testing. Sponsorship Applicants requiring visa sponsorship are not considered. Qualifications Option 1 – Experience: Minimum 12 months of full‑time equivalent work experience performing fiscal activities with arithmetic responsibilities. Education substitution: Six semester units of completed college‑level accounting coursework can substitute for up to six months of experience, provided transcripts are attached. Option 2 – Education: Completed Associate degree in mathematics, accounting/finance, or a closely related field. Education Requirements Degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting association. Foreign credentials must be accompanied by a reputable credential evaluation. Examination Procedure An online assessment will be administered covering math skills, attention to detail, problem solving, integrity and interpersonal skills.
