Carpenter (Facilities / Finish Carpentry)

Location: Carlsbad, CA
Client: Ionis Pharmaceuticals
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: 30/hr

Overview

Ionis Pharmaceuticals is seeking a hands-on Carpenter to support facilities maintenance and ongoing buildout projects within a growing lab and office environment. This role focuses heavily on finish carpentry, interior work, and general facility upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform finish carpentry work, including:
• • Doors, hinges, and hardware installation
  • Cabinetry and interior buildouts
• Patch, prep, and paint walls, including high-quality (Level 5) finishes
• Complete general maintenance tasks across multiple trades, including:
• • Light electrical (110V)
  • Fixture replacement
  • Minor plumbing work
• Install and repair appliances and fixtures (dishwashers, sinks, faucets)
• Operate power tools and shop equipment (e.g., table saws)
• Support upkeep of kitchens, common areas, and facility spaces
• Replace damaged components and fixtures as needed
• Assist with facility expansions and buildout projects

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of carpentry or facilities experience (journeyman-level)
• Strong finish carpentry experience (doors, cabinetry, painting, staining)
• Experience working with power tools and shop environments
• Knowledge of paints, coatings, and application techniques
• Ability to perform multi-trade maintenance work
• Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commercial or residential facilities environments
• Exposure to laminate work and cabinetry finishing
