Talent Acquisition Specialist

Recruiter PositionBrooklyn Public Library seeks a Recruiter to join our Human Resources team. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will use their expertise to source candidates through various channels, plan interview and selection procedures and create strong and diverse talent pipelines for the Library's current and future hiring needs. The TA Specialist will also work to support the Library's goals around diversity, equity & inclusion to attract, hire and retain diverse talent. To be successful, the TA Specialist must establish cooperative and strategic working relationships with their hiring departments while maintaining a positive candidate experience throughout the selection and hiring process. We seek a creative and ambitious individual who aligns with our energetic environment and will help the team expand capacity around talent acquisition strategies for the library.This is a full-time, non-union, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000.ResponsibilitiesLead a full cycle hiring process for assigned positions to include exempt, non-exempt, union and temporary roles utilizing the Library's Applicant Tracking SystemWork collaboratively with hiring managers to understand hiring goals, timelines and resourcesResponsible for the interview and selection process: job postings, pre-screen candidates, conduct interview strategy meetings and lead wrap-up discussions with panel membersPartner with internal and external stakeholders (professional organizations, universities, etc.) to attract diverse candidatesRecommend new ideas for improving talent acquisition activities around diversity, equity & inclusionWork closely with internal departments to develop creative ways for addressing talent acquisition challengesFoster long-term relationships with past applicants and potential candidates to maintain a robust pipeline of talentManage job posting process and identify appropriate sites to advertise positions; create posts for social media adsManage agency relationships to fill positions and/or temp assignmentsResearch talent acquisition trends and keep up to date with industry changesCreate and analyze monthly reports on key talent acquisition metricsConduct exit interviews, background checks, personal referencesAdvise and support department managers to develop job descriptions with accurate responsibilities and qualificationsSubmit new hire paperwork and update appropriate stakeholders when onboarding new hiresServe as brand ambassador at various events, like career fairs or on-campus recruiting eventsWork with colleagues to support the work and goals of the Human Resources DepartmentOther duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree required4-5 years of progressive recruiting experience within a high-volume environmentHands-on experience with full-cycle recruiting using various interview techniques and evaluation methodsExperience working with Applicant Tracking Systems and background vendorsDemonstrated knowledge of various recruiting techniques, experience in online/social media recruitingExcellent oral/written communication, marketing, presentation, interviewing and interpersonal skillsExcellent relationship building and the desire to provide exceptional customer serviceStrong understanding of staffing principles, laws, and proceduresStrong customer service, negotiation skills and ability to interact with employees at all levelsStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Forms, etc.)Strong work ethic and sense of integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain a high level of confidentialityCreative in brainstorming and proposing new ideas and solutions to existing problemsSelf-starter with excellent time management, multi-tasking and organizational skillsMust exhibit flexibility under pressure and demonstrated ability to produce resultsNonprofit and/or experience with unionized environment a plusPassion for recruiting a mustTravel to branches, recruitment events & fairs as neededWe seek professionals dedicated to providing excellent customer service, developing fruitful partnerships in the community, and implementing programs aligned with our mission and vision.
