REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN - 3rd Shift (Kansas City)

Position Summary Food Production – Refrigeration Technician – Full‑time – Kansas City, KS Pay: $29.75 to $42.50 per hour (commensurate with experience). The role works overnight on a 12‑hour shift, rotating two‑week schedule with a 3‑day weekend off every other week. Location: Kansas City, KS. Responsibilities Provide maintenance support to ensure the safe and effective operation of ammonia refrigeration systems, HCFC systems, hot water, compressed air, and steam systems. Perform preventive maintenance and refrigeration repairs, and conduct emergency mechanical or electrical repairs on production equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, pump, pressure, and hydraulic plant equipment. Apply knowledge of boiler theory, RETA Operator I, IIAR Basic NH3 Refrigeration schematics, and process safety management. Pass a HAZ‑Mat physical, become certified as an Emergency Responder Technician Level, and participate on the Emergency Response Team. Assist with training and development of junior Refrigeration Technicians. Minimize downtime caused by equipment and system failure. Qualifications At least 1 year of industrial refrigeration experience or equivalent education (industrial refrigeration diploma or enrollment in a technical school). Operator 1 or RETA 1 license preferred. Experience with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, pump, pressure, and hydraulic systems. Knowledge of retention and safety protocols; experience with Process Safety Management (PSM). Basic math skills (percentages, fractions, and measurements). Ability to safely perform tasks under temperature extremes of –25°F to over 100°F. Physical Requirements Willing and able to lift, push, and pull up to 75lbs occasionally. Work standing on a hard surface for up to 12 hours per day. Work in confined, tall spaces, walk, climb, use ladders, operate lifts, bend, and stoop. Perform repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling; frequent overhead work. Work in temperature ranges within the plant that may vary from –25°F to over 100°F; outside work may be required.
