Solar Farm Technician II

RWE Americas, LLC Start date: As soon as possible. Position: Full time, permanent. Role Overview Solar Farm Technician II is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance across all scopes of an operating power plant. This includes civil, mechanical, and electrical inspection and repair as well as instrumentation and control (I&C). The role also involves operational duties such as monitoring, controlling, and trending to maximize productivity and generation with a focus on safety and proactive work. Responsibilities Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV electrical and mechanical equipment Ensure that all tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures Complete Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work, and job‑specific documentation required for safe inspection, maintenance, and repairs Proactively look for improvement opportunities to job‑appropriate processes and procedures Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate Perform electrical testing as necessary, including insulation and thermal testing Document all work and generate reports as necessary Use Microsoft Office for communication, presentation, and documentation Use computer software in support of maintenance and troubleshooting Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment Assist with BOP activities as needed Respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions Ensure site access, HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocols Interface with any 3rd party contractors working at our facilities Respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, and resolution of O&M issues Operate mobile equipment, including mowers, forklifts, tractors, excavators, and motor vehicles Represent the company professionally with contractor and vendor relations, and during partnership opportunities within the community Perform all other duties as assigned Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required Associate degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited U.S. school preferred (excluding correspondence or internet programs) Current Nevada State PV Installer’s licence NABCEP Certification or Electrical License preferred Unrestricted driver’s licence in good standing required Minimum 2 years of experience as a maintenance electrician (commercial or industrial) or 4 years as a multi‑craft maintenance technician performing electrical work on operating equipment; or 2 years in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, or distribution Experience in solar operations and maintenance is a plus Skilled in power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, and substation maintenance Competent in power plant safety protocols, electrical safety, and NEC Knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures Ability to work within tight deadlines and evolving schedules Willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned, including supporting other sites Ability to work independently and as part of a team Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machinery Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required Complete required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe First aid, CPR, AED, OSHA Certified Shift work experience Responsive to direction, coachable, trainable, and adaptable to new technologies and methods Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and seek new opportunities for corrective work Physical Requirements Field‑based role that involves travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations Ability to work in extreme weather conditions Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day Ability to push, pull, and lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.
