What We're Looking For The Registrar collects patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services and ensures a smooth, efficient registration process. This role is responsible for collecting insurance, co-pays, and deductibles at the Point of Service while providing a positive first impression of the hospital to patients and visitors. How You'll Contribute Ensures all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered accurately and timely into the registration system Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational materials to patients or family members Meets with patients or caregivers before or after admission to exchange information, explain processes, and address questions or concerns Communicates with physician offices, nursing units, and other staff to coordinate admissions and determine appropriate placement Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization when required Collects and processes co-pays and deductibles or refers patients to financial counseling as appropriate Expedites the registration process efficiently while maintaining accuracy Provides a welcoming and professional first impression to all patients and visitors Required Skills Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and accuracy Education High School Diploma or GED Preferred; Associate degree preferred. Certifications Handle with Care certification required within 30 days of orientation and maintained annually Schedule PRN- work as needed to cover the Department. On call at least 1 week per month.
