Contract | Nights | 3×12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Neuro ICU setting with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including stroke, neurosurgery, neuro-specific conditions, and complex spine cases
• Perform cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and participation with Rapid Response and Code teams
• Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care, port access, arterial line management, and PICC line management
• Administer and titrate continuous IV paralytics, neuromuscular blockade agents, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Provide neuro-specific care including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD management, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/post-neurosurgery care
• Support respiratory care including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and suctioning (ETT and NT); float within skillset as required

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Previous Neuro ICU experience required; experience in a large Level I or Level II facility required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must be available to work weekends (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block) and at least one holiday per 13-week contract
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible; candidates residing 50-99.9 miles away may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with external ventricular drains (EVDs) and therapeutic thermoregulation/Arctic Sun protocols
• Prior travel nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Familiarity with Magnet-designated or academic teaching hospital environments
