Social Worker Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive) : Monitor each supervisee’s compliance/performance with employment expectations related to productivity, work habits and ability to complete tasks in a timely manne r.Provide clinical supervision and consultation to Clinical Social Workers, BERS and their staff. Review caseloads, identify problems/barriers to care. Provide advice, guidance, education as needed to assist staff to formulate plans/strategies to address unmet needs of patients and familie s.Provide back-up clinical social work coverage to seven patient care units during the temporary absence of clinical social worker s.Provide direct Clinical Social Work services as appropriate due to the complicity or sensitivity of case s.Assume responsibility for the clinical and administrative management of the Clinical Social Work department, including development and implementation of polic y.Coordinate and supervise the Performance Improvement program in the Clinical Social Work departmen t.Coordinate the monthly Case Review progra m.Coordinate and provide opportunities for Clinical Social Work educatio n.Serve on hospital-wide committees or assign staff as appropriat e.Attend Mental Health Rounds and Discharge Planning meetings on units to assist the CSW and interdisciplinary team to formulate safe and appropriate plans for discharge for complex, high risk cases and situation s-Required Qualification s: Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of subordinates and available resources; controlling work through periodic reviews and/or evaluations; determining subordinates training needs; motivating subordinates to work effectively; and determining the need for disciplinary action and either recommending or initiating disciplinary acti on.Ability to perform Clinical Social Work Responsibilities including assessments and discharg es.Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of supervisi on.Ability to teach social work clinical methods and techniques to social workers, graduate and undergraduate students and to communicate social work principles and goals to other human service personn el.Ability to evaluate the professional clinical performance of social workers, graduate workers and social work studen ts.Ability to plan, assign and coordinate the activities of othe rs.Preferred Qualificatio ns: Extensive experience providing clinical assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, and evidence-based therapeutic servi ces.Experience working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness, substance use disorders, trauma, or other complex behavioral health ne eds.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, healthcare providers, and community partn ers.Strong knowledge of behavioral health best practices, care coordination, and case management princip les.Experience developing individualized treatment plans and coordinating referrals to community-based resour ces.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing clinical documentation and repo rts.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environm ent.Commitment to advancing health equity, cultural humility, and person-centered, trauma-informed c are.Learn more about nursing opportunities at DPH -dph About Tewksbury Hosp ital:Tewksbury Hospital offers a broad range of services including a physician on site at all times, around-the-clock nursing care, rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, psychology services, social services, nutritional services, and an on-site dialysis cl inic.Learn more: cess:A criminal background check will be completed on the recommended candidate as required by the regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services prior to the candidate being hired. STITUTIONS:

- A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required nonsupervisory experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience. - No substitution will be permitted for the required supervisory experience. One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actual ly completed.

LICENSES:

- Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required. - Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent f rom another state.Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.
