Physician - Hematology/Oncology The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Staff Hematologist/Oncologist for the VA Black Hills Health Care System in Fort Meade, SD. This physician provides expert consultation and treatment for patients in the outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic, supports inpatient and outpatient subspecialty care, coordinates treatment with Primary Care and other medical services, and provides consultation across the Black Hills VA Medical Center. Evaluate, triage, and prioritize outpatient hematology/oncology consultation requests from Primary Care providers and other services. Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment. Coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system. Provide clinical care within approved Hematology/Oncology privileges. Provide Hematology/Oncology on-call services as assigned. Perform administrative tasks such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, teams, workgroups, and peer reviews as requested. Complete CME, VA training, HIPAA training, security training, and other mandatory training courses. Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have a Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Must have completed approved residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification. Must be subject to a background/security investigation. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination. Must pass pre-employment drug testing and remain subject to testing requirements for this testing designated position.
