Staff Engineer - Full-Stack

Job description:

We are hiring a senior individual contributor to serve as the de facto technical lead for a small, fast-growing B2B software company in the finance operations space. This person will operate across teams and systems, own long-term architectural decisions, and set the engineering bar as the organization scales. You will work directly with the leadership team to translate ambiguous business goals into clear technical roadmaps and ship end-to-end features across the stack.

What you will do: Define and drive technical direction across the full stack, focusing on the highest-leverage problems and solutions. Lead complex, cross-cutting initiatives end-to-end, including data modeling, schema design, migrations, backfills, and safe rollouts on relational databases and modern ORMs. Establish and continuously improve engineering standards: system design practices, incident response, observability, and reliability. Multiply team impact by mentoring other engineers, leading design and architecture reviews, and raising the overall quality bar. Partner with founders and product leaders on roadmap, trade-offs, and build-vs-buy decisions that balance speed with long-term maintainability.

Qualifications:

Seniority and background: 8+ years of professional experience in full-stack software engineering. Experience at a high-bar technology company or venture-backed startup, ideally in B2B SaaS. Background working on small teams or as an early engineer, with broad ownership across the stack.

Technical skills: Strong full-stack development skills with deep proficiency in TypeScript. Comfortable building with modern web technologies such as Node.js, React/Next.js, and production hosting platforms; experience with ORMs like Prisma and relational databases such as MySQL or similar. Familiarity with event-driven architectures and orchestration tools (for example, Temporal, Inngest, or equivalents).

Leadership and collaboration: Demonstrated ability to mentor and level up other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing. Strong product sense and ability to partner closely with non-technical stakeholders to define and deliver high-impact functionality. Comfortable turning loosely defined business goals into technical plans and execution.
