About the Position

Job Title: Staff Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down, Med-Surg Pediatrics, Med-Surg Adult Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Valid nursing license Certifications: Relevant certifications as required Must-Have: - Experience in Step Down, Med-Surg Pediatrics, and Med-Surg Adult nursing - Ability to perform thorough patient assessments - Strong communication skills - Flexibility and organizational skills in stressful situations Description: Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients' age. Conduct head-to-toe assessments on all patients and perform reassessments per policy. Revise standards of care based on the patients' response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness. Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate the effectiveness of learning, including family as appropriate. Assess and reassess pain management techniques utilized. Educate patients and families regarding pain management practices. Demonstrate the ability to perform treatments and provide services to the level of licensure. Communicate clearly and appropriately with management, co-workers, and physicians. Consult with other departments as necessary to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs. Provide care appropriate to the condition and age of patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and general populations. Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills. Remain flexible, organized, and capable of functioning in stressful situations. Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained. Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Act as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Interact professionally with patients/families and involve them in developing their plan of care. Maintain good working relationships within the department and with other departments. Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies. Identify and address psychosocial needs of patients and families and communicate with necessary services regarding both in-hospital and post-discharge needs. Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly. Coordinate and supervise patient care as required within licensure. Holiday coverage may be required.
