Rising Roots Youth Farming Coordinator

Making A Difference Foundation (MADF) is dedicated to empowering youth and supporting community-based agriculture initiatives in Tacoma, WA. As the full-time Rising Roots Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery and coordination of the Rising Roots youth microgreens and urban agriculture workforce development program. This program provides hands-on training for youth ages 16-25, focusing on microgreens production, food systems, entrepreneurship, and life skills development. You will work on-site across greenhouse, garden, and community locations, reporting directly to the Director of Programs. Key responsibilities Coordinate and facilitate weekly program sessions for youth participants Support youth engagement, mentorship, and participation tracking throughout the program Oversee planting, growing, and harvesting processes in microgreens and urban agriculture projects Track program data and outcomes to ensure effective delivery and impact Manage partnerships, outreach efforts, and program logistics with community stakeholders Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for youth development and workforce training This role is ideal for individuals passionate about youth empowerment, social justice, and urban agriculture, with a commitment to supporting BIPOC communities and cultivating the next generation of farmers and entrepreneurs. Requirements 3+ years of experience in program coordination or youth development Experience working with youth ages 16-25 Experience working with diverse communities Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace Experience using Monday.com for project tracking or CRM Experience with microgreens production or urban agriculture programs Able to lift 30-40 lbs and perform standing, bending, and light labor indoors and outdoors Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between the classroom, greenhouse, garden, and community sites Preferred Qualifications Experience facilitating group sessions or trainings Availability for 2-3 evenings per week and Saturdays during the 20-week program Benefits This role is ideal for someone passionate about youth development, social justice, and community-based agriculture, with a focus on supporting BIPOC communities and empowering the next generation of farmers and entrepreneurs.
