Benefits Consultant / Onsite

Location: Gratiot, OH | Schedule: Full-time, on-site five days a week (Monday-Friday, 730am-4pm or 8am-430pm) | Compensation: $22.13hr-$30.46hr depending on experience

Overview

An established hospital known for high-quality patient care is seeking a Benefits Consultant to join its HR team. This role is central to ensuring employees understand and can effectively use their benefit plans, and offers the chance to grow within a collaborative healthcare setting in a rural area close to a major city.

What you'll do

• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and issue resolution
• Present detailed benefits information during weekly new employee orientation sessions
• Administer employee benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations across medical, dental, vision, life, and retirement programs
• Process and reconcile benefit premiums, invoices, and payroll deductions to ensure accuracy
• Manage COBRA administration and leave-of-absence (LOA) benefit billing and follow-up
• Audit benefit data and reports to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records
• Support open enrollment, onboarding education sessions, and ongoing employee communications
• Facilitate employee benefits including enrollment, new hire processing, and employee education
• Maintain positive relationships with third party administrators
• Perform other HR duties as required
• Report to the Benefits Manager

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree in applicable field or equivalent HR experience
• Minimum of two years HR or closely related experience
• Specific benefits experience required (not general HR experience)
• Baseline benefits knowledge, including regulations, plan administration, and helping employees navigate benefit plans
• Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and Windows operating system
• Prior experience with HRIS systems
• Ability to effectively verbalize and write to explain or describe moderately complex information, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply complex material such as regulatory standards, summary plan documents, compensation policy, and employment regulations
• Must be on-site five days a week

Compensation and benefits

• Pay range of $22.13hr-$30.46hr depending on experience
