Manager, SAP Platform & BASIS Operations

Position Summary

The SAP BASIS Leader is accountable for the overall health, stability, security, performance, and lifecycle management of Lucid's global SAP platform landscape. This role leads the SAP Platform Management team and serves as the technical owner for SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP RISE environments, HANA databases, middleware infrastructure, system administration, platform automation, and operational excellence.

The position is responsible for ensuring reliable SAP operations supporting Lucid's manufacturing, supply chain, finance, engineering, and corporate business functions worldwide. The SAP BASIS Leader works closely with Architecture, Functional, Security, Development, Infrastructure, Manufacturing Systems, and AMS partners to deliver a secure, scalable, and highly available SAP ecosystem. The role also provides leadership for SAP platform strategy, cloud transformation initiatives, and operational governance.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Platform Leadership

• Lead the SAP Platform Management and BASIS organization.
• Establish platform strategy, standards, governance, and operational procedures.
• Develop platform roadmaps supporting Lucid's global growth initiatives.
• Manage internal Basis staff, GCC resources, and managed service providers.
• Drive operational maturity through ITIL and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

SAP Operations & Service Delivery

• Own SAP availability, performance, stability, and operational KPIs.
• Lead incident, problem, change, and release management activities.
• Ensure 24x7 support readiness for production environments.
• Govern operational SLAs and service performance metrics.
• Provide executive reporting on platform health, risks, and improvement initiatives.

SAP RISE & Cloud Platform Management

• Serve as the primary Lucid owner for SAP RISE platform operations.
• Manage relationships and escalation paths with SAP ECS/RISE teams.
• Lead cloud platform strategy, capacity planning, and environment governance.
• Coordinate system provisioning, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle activities.
• Support hyperscaler migration and cloud optimization programs.

SAP HANA & Database Administration

• Oversee SAP HANA administration and performance tuning.
• Establish backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies.
• Manage database growth forecasting and capacity planning.
• Drive database security and compliance requirements.

Environment & Release Management

• Own landscape architecture across Development, QA, UAT, Training, Pre-Production, and Production environments.
• Govern transport management and release deployment processes.
• Coordinate project cutovers and go-live readiness activities.
• Ensure environment availability for project and support teams.

Security & Compliance Partnership

• Partner with SAP Security and GRC teams on audit readiness.
• Ensure platform compliance with SOX, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
• Support vulnerability management and disaster recovery testing.
• Participate in security reviews and remediation governance.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Drive automation of system monitoring, administration, and operational processes.
• Expand observability capabilities across SAP environments.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Champion SAP Clean Core and standardized platform practices.

Vendor & Managed Services Governance

• Lead BASIS-related AMS governance.
• Oversee IBM and other service provider performance.
• Review service delivery, operational metrics, and contractual obligations.
• Drive continuous service improvement initiatives.

Project & Transformation Support

• Provide technical leadership for:
  • New plant launches
  • SAP S/4HANA transformations
  • SAP BTP adoption
  • Infrastructure modernization
  • M&A integrations
  • Major upgrade programs
• Support program cutovers and hypercare activities.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 12+ years SAP BASIS experience.
• 5+ years leading SAP BASIS or SAP Platform teams.
• Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Experience supporting large-scale global manufacturing operations.
• Experience managing offshore teams and AMS providers.
• Experience with SAP RISE and cloud-hosted SAP environments.

Salary Range : The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$118,500—$173,800 USD

Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off. Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
