A pharmacy opportunity is available for a pharmacist with specialized skills in long-term care and mail order pharmacy services. This contract-to-hire position is based in Winston-Salem, NC, with a focus on compounding expertise and patient-centered pharmaceutical care.
Responsibilities include accepting and dispensing prescription medications while ensuring compliance with legal regulations and patient safety standards. Monitoring medication adherence and addressing any over-usage patterns is essential. The role involves maintaining accurate and confidential patient records and advising patients on medication use, potential side effects, and proper storage. Additional patient services include smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol management, and education on medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
Compounding medications for both external and internal use is a key requirement, including the preparation of sterile solutions utilizing strict procedural standards. Supervising pharmacy staff, managing inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, and collaborating effectively with healthcare providers to resolve drug-related issues will also be expected.
Shift Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Optional or possible weekend on-call
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- North Carolina Pharmacy License required
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical compounding is mandatory
- Acute care or home infusion experience highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of long-term care and mail order pharmacy operations
