Nursing AssistantDuties of the Nursing Assistant (NA) include but are not limited to:Assists providers and nurses in the performance of diagnostic examinations or procedures by preparing/positioning/draping as well as emotionally supporting Veterans.Performs a variety of routine diagnostic tests such as glucometer test for blood glucose level, EKG's, bladder scanning, vital sign monitoring, obtaining weight and height, collection of urine samples, sputum, and stool. Delivers samples to blood lab and picks up blood products from the blood bank.Records basic data and patient responses and reports deviations from the normal to the nurse.Performs a complete range of patient care related to urinary and bowel elimination, feeding, oral intake, oxygenation, and other duties as assigned by the RN after competency has been demonstrated.Performs treatment such as foot soaks and application of non-prescribed topical lotions.Collects and correctly labels specimens (urine, stool, and sputum). Delivers specimens to the laboratory section of the facility.Measures and records intake and output.Reports the condition of wounds and skin and any reaction to or results of treatment.Enters specific information into the patients'/residents' Electronic Medical Record (EMR).Maintains a clean, safe environment of care that is conducive to Veterans' privacy and rehabilitation.Work Schedule: M-F 0800-1630, flexible to meet needs of organization.Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Telework: Not availableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Functional Statement #: 81211FPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized
