Position Overview RN Manager – Specialty Services (Outpatient) – Sitka, Alaska. Pay: $50–$70 per hour, DOE. Sign‑On: $25,000. Relocation: $10,000 (for qualified hire). Lead our outpatient specialty clinic and elevate access to care in Southeast Alaska. As RN Manager for Specialty Services, you will guide a skilled, mission‑driven team to improve clinic operations, patient flow, safety, quality and overall patient experience, while making a measurable difference in tribal health across our island community. Why You’ll Love This Role Sign‑On: $25,000 Relocation: $10,000 Competitive pay: $50–$70 per hour, DOE Influence how care is delivered in a high‑impact outpatient setting Supportive leadership and a positive, collaborative team Live and work in Sitka, AK – an oceanfront community with hiking, fishing, and vibrant Native culture What You’ll Do Lead the specialty clinic team — coaching, staffing, and building a culture of safety, quality, and respect Partner closely with the Director of Specialty Services and the Supervisor of Scheduling & Referral Coordination to optimize schedules, referrals, and access Standardize and improve workflows to enhance throughput, reduce wait times, and strengthen the patient experience Ensure clinical reliability — policies, procedures, and competencies are current, understood, and consistently followed Monitor key metrics (flow, access, quality indicators) and drive continuous improvement Champion patient safety and regulatory readiness in the ambulatory environment Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities Provide day‑to‑day leadership and mentoring to the clinic staff to proactively reduce barriers to access, standardize consistent processes, and improve the patient experience Identify and correct staff and clinic flow or system issues Mentor staff and constantly seek feedback from nursing and other clinic staff and providers Hold regular clinic meetings to promote staff engagement, consistency, and improve clinic quality, safety, efficiency and patient experience Act as an overall clinic leader to improve specialty and surgery clinic services Recruit, orient, and mentor staff; provide professional growth and development Orient personnel on new policies, procedures, routines and operating new equipment Address employee relations issues timely with help of the Specialty Director as needed Direct and supervise nursing and clinic staff, ensuring highest quality patient care Oversee annual competencies for all nursing and clinic staff; maintain certifications and licenses Assume responsibility for QI/QA activities and daily clinic staffing adequacy Promote outstanding quality customer service through teamwork and communication Establish and maintain supplies for the clinic; recommend purchase of new or replacement equipment Maintain Joint Commission readiness for relevant areas, ensuring compliance with policies, processes, and care environment Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects deemed necessary to provide comprehensive health services What You’ll Bring 5+ years of varied RN experience, including ≥1 year in ambulatory care 2+ years of supervisory/managerial experience in healthcare Active RN license in the U.S. (Alaska or ability to obtain) Proven strengths in team leadership, change management, and service excellence Compensation & Incentives Pay: $50–$70 per hour, DOE. Incentives: Up to $25K sign‑on and $10K relocation for qualified hires (paid per policy). Comprehensive benefits package and retirement program. Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred) Experience: 5 years of varied clinical nurse experience including 1 year in ambulatory care, and 2 years of supervisory/managerial experience in the health care field License and Certification: Valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license in Alaska; or licensed in another state and obtain Alaska license within 6 months. Active BLS and manager competency within 3 months of hire and every three years. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the nursing process and ability to apply it in the workplace Knowledge and use of customer service principles Knowledge and use of safety and infection control principles Clinical skills including assessment, anticipation of needs, and specimen collection Technical skills including use of computers and medical equipment Effective oral and written communication skills; both verbal and written Effective leadership skills in a healthcare environment Ability to multi‑task and work independently in a fast‑paced environment Ability to maintain compliance with annual competencies Ability to problem‑solve and use conflict resolution skills to develop and maintain good working relations with other staff and departments Ability to anticipate needs of others and seek help when appropriate Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, climb, and move to the floor; lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Physical Demands Employees must verbally and aurally communicate, stand, walk, sit, use hands for finger or touch, reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and lift or move up to 50 lbs.
