Our client, an established healthcare organization, is seeking a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for an onsite, 90-day contract engagement in Albany, New York. The role supports an ultrasound service performing abdominal, small parts, vascular, and obstetric or gynecologic imaging for a varied patient population. You will perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations across the department's scope of practice, selecting appropriate transducers and settings, optimizing image parameters, and capturing complete, well-documented studies that support confident radiologist interpretation. You will review requisitions and prior imaging to understand the clinical question, obtain relevant patient history, explain procedures clearly to reduce anxiety, and position patients safely and comfortably for the duration of each study. You will recognize significant or emergent findings during scanning and communicate them promptly to the radiologist, providing preliminary technical observations within your scope of practice and ensuring urgent results reach the right clinician without delay. You will document technical findings and measurements in the reporting system, transmit images to PACS accurately, perform routine equipment quality assurance, keep scanning rooms clean and stocked, and follow infection prevention protocols including proper transducer disinfection between patients. You will manage the daily examination schedule in coordination with the front desk and nursing units, sequencing inpatient, outpatient, and emergency studies to keep the department moving and to accommodate urgent add-ons without disrupting scheduled patients. You will also verify appropriate examination ordering against clinical indication, raising questions with the radiologist where the requested study may not answer the clinical question.

ARDMS registration is required, with credentialing appropriate to the examinations performed, such as RDMS in Abdomen or Obstetrics and Gynecology. Graduation from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program is required, along with any New York credential needed to practice. Prior clinical sonography experience in a hospital or outpatient imaging setting is required, along with current BLS certification and proficiency with PACS. You must demonstrate strong scanning technique and image optimization skills, the ability to recognize abnormal findings, and the physical capability to perform sustained scanning and assist with patient positioning and transfers. Reliable onsite availability is required.

This engagement pays an hourly rate in the range of $55.00 to $57.00, based on experience and credentials held, across a 90-day contract with a defined end date. You will work with experienced radiologists and sonographers in a well-equipped department covering a broad case mix. The defined assignment length supports personal planning, and extension or follow-on assignments may be available subject to performance and organizational need. This is a contract engagement placed through our recruiting team.
