*Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Prefer EFM through NCC or Advanced Fetal Monitoring.*

- # L&D Beds: 7 labor beds
- # OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: 2
- # Triage beds: 4
- # Postpartum beds: 4 recovery room beds.
- # Births per day? Month? Year?: In 2023 we did 1,417 deliveries for the year, Approximately 118 births per month.
- Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: Yes, Antepartum 1:1-3; Intrapartum 1:1; Post-Partum 1:1-4.
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Prefer EFM through NCC or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Common diagnoses: 15+ weeks, Pre-eclampsia, Diabetes- insulin drip, Magnesium Sulfate for PTL and Pre-eclampsia.
- Experience: Must have 3 years of L&D experience, Must be circulate C-sections.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
- Common titratable: Oxytocin, Mag, Insulin.
- Charge Nurse: The charge nurse does not usually take and assignment.
- Nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit?: Surgical techs- at least one per shift. We do not have nurses aides on L&D.
- OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: OB in house 24/7, Pediatrician resident on call at night; Also have midwives on staff.
- Anesthesia in house 24/7?: Yes
- RT Equipment: In NICU- NICU is next door to L&D.
- Tele/Monitor Techs: No tele techs. The nurse should be able to identify basic rhythms and life threatening rhythms, but
would verify with the attending for a patient in Recovery s/p C-Section.
- EFM System: Centricity Perinatal
- Shifts & Scheduling: The nurses self schedule and the ANCC's balance the schedule. 7-7. Schedule made out 4 weeks at a
time, travelers self-schedule but asked to stay flexible and help to fill gaps in permanent staffing. Block scheduling not
guaranteed.
- Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts a month or EOW.
- Holiday Requirements: Yes
- Is there a call or standby requirement?: No
- Floating Requirements?: Float to MB/PP.
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Unit Specific Orientation: 3 days with a preceptor, 1 MB/PP, potential for 1 day of triage.
