One of the positions is for temporary employment in Manoa to Kahala. Shift Work: For some of the immediate vacancies, applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays. This recruitment will be used to fill current temporary full-time and permanent full-time vacancies. Note: Employees appointed to temporary positions may also gain membership in the civil service upon satisfactory completion of an initial probation period of at least six months. Duties Summary Supervises and participates in keeping assigned buildings and building areas clean and orderly, including heavy lifting, cleaning places and equipment which are not easily accessible, simple building repair work and operating industrial type cleaning equipment; and performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualification Requirements To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements: Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. General Experience: TWO (2) YEARS of janitorial or related custodial work such as sweeping, dusting and cleaning of buildings. Supervisory Aptitude: Applicants must possess supervisory aptitude, demonstrated through successful completion of regular or special assignments involving supervisory responsibilities or training courses in supervision. Evidence may include favorable appraisals. Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
