Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level I trauma center OR, requiring at least 3 years of experience in a Level I/II trauma or large teaching hospital setting.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center hospital setting
• 13-week assignment with day shift schedule, 5x8s from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests permitted
• Every other weekend requirement (2 weekends per month)
• On-call requirement of one shift each 4-week cycle, including weekend on-call shifts from 7a-7p or 7p-7a
• Mandatory float facility; clinicians may be required to float within scope to meet facility needs across units and specialties
• May be asked to float to other facilities within a 50-mile radius with as little as 2 hours notice
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Experience required across multiple surgical services including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Vascular, and Trauma

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center or large teaching hospital
• BLS certification required
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential through NBSTSA or NCCT required
• IL license required if applicable, and must be in hand at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions
• Two professional references from a supervisor required within the past 2 years

Additional Information

• Supports surgical procedures across multiple specialties including Vascular, ENT, General Surgery, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Robotics, Thoracic, and Urology
• Maintains aseptic technique, sterilization/disinfection standards, and sharps safety protocols
• Participates in specimen handling/labeling and Universal Protocol (time out) procedures
• Adheres to fire, laser, and radiation safety standards
• Floating is a standard and frequent practice; there are no guaranteed home units
• If floated outside primary competency, a team-based care model is used for support
• Refusal to float may result in assignment cancellation
• RTO limited to 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends
• No holiday RTO, and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
• Local candidates accepted and preferred within 75 miles of the facility
• Returning resources must undergo full recredentialing and reattend orientation, even if the break in contract was less than 30 days
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
• Compliance documentation must be completed by the Monday before the week of orientation
