Clinician Reports to: Manager of Clinical Services Department: JOH Shelter and JOH LTFC Location: Emsworth or Moon Township Hours: Full-time, exempt position with flexibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The clinician conducts comprehensive mental health assessments for unaccompanied children to identify emotional, behavioral, and psychological needs, including histories of abuse, neglect, trauma, or human trafficking. Throughout a minor’s stay, the clinician provides weekly individual and group counseling, as well as family counseling and crisis intervention services when needed. The role includes participation in an on‐call rotation to respond to psychiatric emergencies and assist with intake assessments. The clinician establishes goals related to family reunification, mental health stabilization, and behavior management, and facilitates the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs) by leading ISP meetings. Using a team‑based approach, the clinician collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate services and monitor each minor’s progress. The position maintains a caseload ratio of no more than 12 minors per clinician, and all candidates are subject to final approval by ORR.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicates respectfully, manages conflict constructively, acknowledges limitations, and applies a solution‑focused approach to challenges. Manages responsibilities effectively by meeting deadlines, delegating appropriately while maintaining accountability, and responding calmly to crises and unexpected situations. Completes all required documentation accurately and on time, including assessments, progress notes, case reviews, and safety plans, in compliance with program standards. Supports reunification by establishing individualized goals, identifying barriers, participating in team planning, and developing appropriate discharge and support plans. Coordinates services and ISP development by facilitating meetings, ensuring goal‑aligned services, providing counseling, making referrals, and collaborating with internal and external providers. Maintains consistent communication and collaboration with minors, sponsors, families, and interdisciplinary teams to support effective care and decision‑making. Provides direct clinical support through individual and group counseling, promotes positive participation in program activities, and connects minors to community resources. Demonstrates professional leadership by maintaining a positive image, building strong relationships, making balanced decisions, and collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders. Engages in ongoing professional development by participating in supervision, maintaining confidentiality and compliance (HIPAA), and completing required trainings and certifications.REQUIEREMENTS
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or master’s degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy or other relevant behavioral science in which clinical training and experience is a program requirement. Licensure or licensure eligible is preferred. Five (5) years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience. Candidate must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Act 33/34 and FBI clearances required. Must be at least 21 years of age, have valid driver’s license and be able to drive a car or van. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Ability to passively physically restrain a child if necessary. Ability to lift or push a minimum of 20 lbs. by themselves or up to 50 lbs. with the assistance of others. Ability to stay awake for entire working shift. Ability to verbally de‑escalate children during a crisis situation. Capable of frequently climbing stairs and other activities that involve physical exertion (i.e., walking hallways, walking across campus).
