About the Arc Of Greater New Orleans ArcGNO is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, independent lives. Since 1953, ArcGNO has provided advocacy, education, and support services to individuals and families across Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and St. Tammany parishes. Our programs include family support coordination, supported living services, employment and job coaching, community integration programs, and transportation services. On our community center in Chalmette, LA we are hiring Community Life Engagement (CLE) service professionals to assist participants in becoming part of local communities and achieving independence. Summary Our CLE service professionals help participants become more independent by assisting with daily activities, finding employment, providing transportation, and advocating for the rights and services of individuals with disabilities. Essential Job Functions Train and supervise assigned participants (work/non-work, community access, volunteerism) Assist in planning and developing methods and procedures for implementing individual programs Submit initial assessment and continuous annual assessments on participants’ progress Hold consistent meetings regarding an individual’s programming and services Implement and document outcomes and methods per ISP and/or Behavior Management Complete all service documentation (attendance, interaction, work/non-work activities) Complete scheduled training and continued education Provide confidential feedback to participants and other appropriate individuals and advocate for participants as appropriate Transport participants to designated locations following all safety and transportation guidelines Drive a morning or afternoon route, picking up participants from their homes or dropping them off at their homes Education/Experience GED or high school diploma; bachelor’s degree in human services or related discipline preferred Previous experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities preferred Valid LA driver’s license and auto insurance required Reliable transportation that passes agency inspection required Skills/Qualifications Excellent time and prioritization management Ability to collaborate with participants and families as well as colleagues Experience with Microsoft, including Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, etc. Critical thinking and problem solving evidenced by past experiences Disclaimer Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
