Job Title: RN Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Profession: RN Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Ability to read basic rhythm strips prior to arrival. - Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. - Completion of 8 hours of stroke training. Description: This position involves working in a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment. The focus is on the care of acute stroke and complex telemetry patients. The unit delivers evidence-based, protocol-driven care with a strong commitment to patient safety. Rapid intervention and interdisciplinary collaboration are crucial components of care. Responsibilities include performing frequent neurological assessments, including the NIH Stroke Scale. Monitoring and interpreting telemetry rhythms while responding to changes in real time are essential. Compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening and care plans, must be ensured. Medications must be administered using BCMA standards with a focus on safety and accuracy. Coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team, including providers and therapy, is required. Managing admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment is expected. Maintaining a focus on falls prevention, skin integrity, and patient safety is essential.
