Ultrasound Technician

An Ultrasound Technician is a healthcare professional who uses ultrasound imaging equipment to produce images of internal organs and tissues by transmitting high-frequency sound waves through the body, allowing physicians to diagnose medical conditions by analyzing these images; their key responsibilities include operating the ultrasound machine, preparing patients for exams, capturing quality images, interpreting findings, and communicating results to physicians while maintaining patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.

Job Summary

The Ultrasound Tech performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and provides high quality care for patients of all ages from neonatal to geriatric. Works in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment with reliance on your expertise, professionalism and collaboration. Produces diagnostic ultrasound images in accordance with department scanning protocols under the general supervision of a Radiologist. Interacts with patients, physicians and staff in a professional and friendly manner.

Qualifications

Education

Satisfactory completion of an accredited Sonography program.

Experience

(2) years of clinical diagnostic ultrasound experience is preferred.

Certification & Licensures

ARDMS Certification in at least (1) specialty required

BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required*

Additional RDMS certification in which the department is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in accordance with the accrediting body's guidelines.

* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
