Please include the New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate with your profile. This license is required to staff for temporary nursing needs. The Operating Room Nurse provides surgical patient care by assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care before, during, and after surgery. Activities may include patient assessment, creating and maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment, and pre and post-operative patient education. Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being is essential. Integration and coordination of patient care throughout the surgical care continuum are also required. Strong skills in vascular and orthopedic surgery are necessary. This is primarily a circulating position; scrub experience is an additional skill preferred. The patient population includes pediatric to adult. Experience with various surgical specialties except cardiac and ophthalmology is needed. The average number of procedures per day is approximately 50. Requested time off during the assignment must be noted when uploading your profile. Requests for time off after submission will not be approved. Non-billable orientation consists of 8 hours. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required. Permanent address must be included in the profile and should match the driver’s license or state ID. Address will be validated during the compliance process. Travelers from certain counties in New York will not be considered for assignments. On-call duty is 1 call per month if needed. No weekend shifts are required.
