Dietary Aide/Cafeteria Technician

Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Dietary Aide/Cafeteria Technician to join our team. The Dietary Aide/Cafeteria Technician role will be responsible for preparing and serving food items to patients, staff, and visitors as well as maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition, ensuring health and safety standards are respected, and solving customer inquiries.

Essential duties include apportioning and serving food to patients, employees, or patrons; cleaning and inspecting equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation; maintaining kitchen and dining area logs accurately and timely; performing serving, cleaning, and stocking duties to facilitate customer service; preparing kitchen area for health inspections; ensuring all regulatory and health department rules are followed at all times; maintaining clean and orderly checkout areas and completing other general cleaning duties; maintaining adequate supplies of items such as silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays; washing pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment; assisting in daily cash handling and daily deposit transactions as needed; estimating daily and weekly needs and keeping daily record of meals served and taking inventory of supplies and equipment; providing services to cafeteria consumers in an efficient and friendly manner; prepping menu items using established policies and procedures with input from the dietitian; preparing kitchen and cafeteria for next day service; coordinating and participating with regularly scheduled quality checks of the food quality, temperature checks in collaboration with the dietitian; and performing other related duties as assigned to support the hospital.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include being competent and conscientious with a customer-oriented approach; having effective communication skills; knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines; and understanding of dietary restrictions and ability to accommodate special dietary needs.

Education requirements include current and unencumbered Food Handler certification in the State of Texas, six (6) months of food preparation in a healthcare setting and knowledgeable of all regulatory requirements for serving food to patients and visitors, and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.
