Certified Nurse Assistant

CNA / Special Education Paraeducator

Purpose: To improve the quality of the educational program offered to exceptional children with medical needs

Hours: To be determined by supervising teacher with a maximum of 35 hours per week.

Job Requirements:

• Evidence of good mental and physical health.
• Correct articulation and language use.
• Must assist with diapering and toileting.
• Assist with feeding, feeding tubes, and personal care according to supervisor.
• Able to work in crowded, noisy environments.
• Must implement directions from the professional.
• Lifting is required.
• Able to accept supervision from the supervising teacher.

Qualifications:

• Must be high school graduate or have GED, CNA certification preferred.
• Assist teachers and specialists in collection and preparation of instructional materials and equipment.
• Work with individual students with medical needs.
• Work with communication devices.
• Assist with classroom housekeeping chores.
• Prepare instructional aids, games, and bulletin boards at the discretion of the supervisor.
• Perform various clerical duties within the classroom. This may include data entry on computer.
• Supervise students on buses and/or at dismissal and/or on field trips.
• Assist in carrying out programs set up by support personnel (OT, PT, speech and Vocational).
• Maintain good public relations with parents, supervisor and co-workers.
• Any and other all duties as assigned by the supervisor(s.)
