Job Summary

To assess treat solve problems counsel educate and refer patients seen for primary or acute care in the clinic/related department utilizing advanced assessment and evaluation techniques.

Responsibilities

Assess health status and health potential: plan implement and evaluate health care needs of the patient/family.

Plan manage and evaluate therapeutic regimens for patients consulting with physician(s) and other members of the health care team including school officials.

Plan teach and counsel patients regarding current health care status and the signs and symptoms of illness.

Assess growth and development of the patient.

Perform clinical and therapeutic procedures.

Assume a leadership role in developing nursing care policies and procedures
for the unit.

Assist with planning and monitoring quality improvement/control for the unit.

Perform history and physical examination and record data.

Identify normal and abnormal findings and consult as needed with physician to determine the plan of treatment.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment treatment or care as defined by the departments identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
